On Between the Notes, she opens up about graduating college at 19, recording every vocal from her bedroom, writing after midnight, and making music that lets Armenians everywhere hear both languages running through their hearts.
Spotlight Story
Evelina was born in Yerevan and moved to New York when she was only two months old. Growing up, she sometimes felt too Armenian for America and too American when she returned to Armenia. Instead of choosing one side, she now turns that in-between identity into a creative strength.
Full Circle
As a child, Evelina found every possible way to perform—from school shows to musical theater. Creating music in Armenia now brings that early dream together with the culture she once missed as the only Armenian student at school. For her, it feels like a full-circle moment that heals part of her younger self.
First Release
She released her first professional song and music video, By Your Side, at 17, just as she was beginning college. Looking back only three years later, she can already hear the distance between that first project and the artist she is becoming through experience, experimentation, and steady creative growth.
High Achiever
Evelina finished high school at 16 and college at 19, double majoring in clinical psychology and music business. Balancing classes, recordings, and promotion was demanding, but graduating gave her the freedom to pursue music full time and put her remarkable drive behind the work she loves most.
Psychology
Her fascination with psychology started before college. Studying the field helped her better understand herself, the people around her, and the emotional patterns that find their way into songwriting. That knowledge gives her lyrics an extra layer while keeping them personal enough for listeners to recognize themselves.
Creative Control
Evelina records all of her own vocals at home, sometimes through hours of takes and sleepless nights. A great studio may offer polish, but solitude gives her something just as valuable: the freedom to shape every detail and be completely honest without another voice changing the instinct behind the performance.
After Midnight
She has never written a song in the daytime. When the world quiets down, creativity feels deeper and more emotional, and the thoughts worth saving begin to appear. One recent bilingual track arrived around 1 a.m. and unfolded from first verse to finish in roughly 20 minutes.
Family
Her parents and grandmother have supported the music from the beginning. Evelina carries deep gratitude for the sacrifices that gave her the chance to choose a creative career—an experience familiar to many Armenian families who built new lives abroad so the next generation could pursue opportunities they never had.
Language
For Armenians in the diaspora, two languages can run through the mind at once. Evelina brings both into her songs so listeners can feel that same cultural connection without translating one part of themselves for the other. Now, with more time for music and a growing audience from Los Angeles to Yerevan, her next chapter is ready to move fast.
